The only problem is I am not exactly sure where to start. My ignition system should be good to go. I have a GM HEI with a new MSD in cap coil. MSD 6a box and MSD wires. What you heard was correct. 600 cfm on a 289 is really pushing the limit. A 465 cfm would have been a better choice. That being said, Holley considers the 600 cfm to be somewhat of a universal carburetor. They set it up from the factory to be used on different sized engines.
